A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Annually, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
