Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that breaks conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of banned practices and monstrous transformations echo through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden sect.
The mission focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
