Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Weather Systems
Approximately 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Locals witnessed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand energy customers in Victoria also experienced power outages after the capital city saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
