Individual Charged with Trying to Kill in Gunfire Attack of National Football League Player Kris Boyd
A suspect has been charged with trying to kill someone in connection with the attack that injured New York Jets football athlete Kris Boyd.
Suspect Identified and Taken Into Custody
The suspect is a man from the Bronx, twenty years old. Law enforcement took him into custody on Monday, accused of multiple serious charges.
Circumstances of the Mid-November Incident
The serious shooting occurred in the early hours of 16 November, outside a popular New York City restaurant. Authorities stated the event as a confrontation with a unknown individuals.
Boyd, 29 years old, was with two other Jets players and a friend in Midtown Manhattan when the argument began.
It resulted in a altercation, during which it is alleged Green shot Boyd two times in the stomach.
Critical Wounds and Hospitalization
The gunshot pierced Boyd's lung and lodged in his major blood vessel near the heart. He was taken to hospital in serious condition but was later discharged.
Reports indicate he has recently seen his fellow players at a Jets practice facility.
Investigation and Apprehension in Buffalo
Camera recordings from the area reportedly showed Green fleeing and getting into a vehicle operated by someone else.
Law enforcement arrested Green on 8 December in Buffalo, where he was found at his partner's residence.
A official announcement noted that "a suspect" had been arrested.
When law enforcement surrounded the building, the suspect was seen "looking out the window looking for an way out but retreated inside after seeing the authorities," the announcement added.
The situation ended shortly thereafter, when the suspect exited the apartment with his hands up.
The suspect had "modified his physical appearance presumably to avoid detection," law enforcement commented.
The Player's Professional Background
Before signing with the Jets this season, Boyd was a member of the Arizona Cardinals over multiple seasons in the NFL.
The cornerback had been on the team's injury list for the Jets after suffering a shoulder injury during team practice in the late summer.
