Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
