NYC Prepares For New Gaming Venues Amid A US Betting Surge

A government gaming facility location board has approved several proposed gambling developments—two located in the borough of Queens plus one within Bronx. The board found the developments are projected to generate thousands of positions and generate billions of dollars in public funds in the following years.

The official regulatory body is likely to endorse the board's advice, potentially allow the venues to begin operations within the coming half-decade.

A Heated Debate: Job Creator against Community Drain?

However, the decision is not widely accepted. Skeptics, comprising various local communities along with academics, maintain how metropolitan gaming venues frequently fail to offer the promised benefits.

"Developers promise it is supposed to generate all this money, but it does not create that money," noted one emeritus professor that has studied gambling impacts.
