The Game UN:Me: A Cerebral Thriller Merging Silent Hill with Among Us Mechanics

The recent Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled several intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience seems to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us.

"This is a unique game where a girl containing several human souls within her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the mind," explains developer Yasukazu Kawai.

Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness

In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Within her exist four separate souls, each with their own fears and drives. These entities can take over spontaneously, releasing their deep-seated phobias upon her without warning.

Judging by showcased gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a eerie hospital, though additional clips depict the protagonist navigating a abandoned church.

A World of Individual Horror

"What makes you afraid of? What causes you uneasy?" asks game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. People in power. Elements that appear minor to other people can trigger something primal within us. This game explores that concept — fears that are unique to each person."

The central gameplay loop involves controlling whichever soul emerges at any given time. However, these identities will change involuntarily as you play. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and attack the protagonist in succession. As the persona shifts, so does the particular terror the player encounters.

Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Decision

At first glance, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The setting is populated by nurses who all share the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the lobby have enormous blooms where their necks are. Floral motifs are a recurring element, contrasting organic elegance with supernatural dread.

Yet, UN:Me presents a singular mechanic. Players must determine which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "All four personas asserts that the body is rightfully them," notes a creator. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is authentic."

After a player have deduced a soul is fake, they must eliminate it. But, since every entity can deceive or hide the truth, it is very easy to choose incorrectly.

"Perhaps you've already destroyed the true [soul] with your own hands," the narration suggests. "The final entity remaining might be a fraud. Either way, your decisions are irreversible."

UN:Me currently lacks a publicly announced launch window, but it is available to follow on platforms.
