Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Policy Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
