Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
